Hi, welcome to Edible Art! I'm Ilana and I personally bake everything that's available here. As a mother of three small boys, I had to avoid any sibling rivalry when it comes to their birthday cakes by making each one unique and very different! This is the kind of experience and creativity that you can expect for your special occasion from Edible Art.

It all started when I decided one day that as an artist, I didn't want an "off the rack" cake for my boys. I am a painter with a lot of imagination and I felt that with the right skills I can translate that passion for visuals into something delectable - something edible! I had already checked in with all the local bakeries but they only wanted to cater to the most popular tastes, with the usual designs. Anything unusual, anything unique, was out of the question for them. And so Edible Art would eventually come into being as I began to develop my baking expertise!

Self-taught from books, I eventually enrolled in the prestigious Brooklyn Culinary Institute to study under master bakers steeped in the finest traditions of Old Europe. At first it was just friends and family who benefited, but soon word spread and I was being asked to bake by friends-of-friends several times removed! Such positive feedback inspired me in turn to open up my kitchen to the general public, for anyone who is an artist at heart and understands that when it comes to cakes, good looks whet the appetite and beautiful designs are as important as tasty ingredients!
